Since 1998, its pioneering partnership with the University of Newcastle and Hunter New England Local Health District has delivered key translational health and medical research and technology closely aligned to community health needs.
Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service
The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Service is the longest serving search and rescue helicopter service in the world, it is also the largest non-profit search and rescue, and aeromedical retrieval service in Australia. Its aircraft and trained medical and operational crews respond quickly and effectively to emergencies threatening the life, health and safety of people caused through medical emergency, illness, natural disaster, accidents or mishap.
Hunter Surf Life Saving
Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) has evolved into an organisation known throughout the world for its voluntary humanitarian service. To date it has performed more than 480 000 recorded rescues. Outstanding for its feats of courage and reliable service to the surfing public, SLSA continues to be maintained by members who are justly proud of their motto, ‘Vigilance and Service”.
TLC for Kids
TLC for kids is a National ATO Endorsed charity that supports sick kids and their families through the moments in hospital where fear and distress can take over. Our distraction services facilitate kids through frightening procedures, and in the crucial 48 hour period following any emotionally challenging situation in hospital.
TLC for kids works with over 400 hospitals across the nation and is the only organisation in Australia providing emotional and practical support in these timeframes.
