Introducing Hunter Volunteer Centre

Hunter Volunteer Centre (HVC) is a not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to encourage volunteer participation, assist volunteers in realising the positive benefits of volunteering and support community organisations to increase their capacity-building strategies.

From humble beginnings with Founder Margo Thompson in 1977, HVC has grown to become the peak Volunteer Resource Centre in the Hunter region.


Now based in Mayfield, NSW, HVC provides a community facility for volunteers and those who work with them, with particular reference to:

  • Education and information.
  • Advocacy, support, and networking.
  • Volunteer recruitment and placement.
  • Public relations and research.


Changing Technology Requirements

With a growing business and a full house of volunteers, reliable technology and support are crucial requirements for HVC to deliver to their community.

Prior to establishing a partnership with Diamond IT, HVC’s internal IT team was managing their baseline technology needs, with the support of a small IT services organisation for more complex troubleshooting and licensing requirements.

Over time HVC found they had outgrown the services of their IT provider and were seeking greater transparency of support tickets, proactive monitoring and advice, and a technology partner that truly understood their business objectives.

Because of this, HVC went to market for a local technology partner who could better support its mission.


Investing in a holistic technology partnership

After speaking with the Diamond IT team, HVC transitioned to our Managed Services in order to benefit from a holistic technology partnership.

The Diamond IT team took over the monitoring and support of HVC’s day-to-day IT needs, with a dedicated Business Technology Manager working closely with their team to evaluate their needs and provide industry advice.

Engaging Diamond IT’s Managed Services offered peace of mind that the HVC network was being proactively monitored and that reliable and timely support was available as needed. In addition, Diamond IT’s Technology Optimisation Reports (included in Managed Services agreements) have provided the framework to discover further opportunities to protect and improve HVC’s strategic technology roadmap.
